321CC INLINE TWIN CYLINDER ENGINE
Featuring the latest combustion technology together with lightweight forged aluminium pistons and all-aluminium DiASil cylinders with an offset design, the smooth-running and quick-revving YZF-R3 engine produces easy-to-manage power.
INVERTED FRONT FORKS
Achieving the right balance of comfort and sport riding performance for both street and track, the new KYB 37mm inverted fork features a larger surface area between the outer and inner tubes than on conventional forks. The inverted design significantly improves fork-leg rigidity, giving a sporty front-end feel and precise levels of surface feedback - while maintaining high levels of riding comfort.
10-SPOKE CAST WHEELS WTIH ABS
Ten-spoke cast aluminium wheels, single 298mm front brake disc with a floating twin-piston caliper, 32 degrees of handlebar steering range, a 780mm seat height and approximately 50/50 front-rear weight ensures the YZF-R3 chassis delivers agile and responsive handling. For added control, Anti-Lock Braking is fitted as standard equipment raising confidence levels even further.
LIGHTWEIGHT CHASSIS
A lightweight high tensile steel tubular frame with a simple design incorporates the engine's crankcase as a stressed structural member of the chassis. The long asymmetrical swingarm design ensures the efficient transmission of engine power to the rear wheel and delivers excellent straight-line stability.
DISTINCTIVE R-SERIES STYLING
The YZF-R3 features a front fairing and windscreen design that pays homage to Yamaha's flagship MotoGP race bike, the YZR-M1. The aggressive new look also achieves outstanding aerodynamic performance providing an increase of up to 8km/h in top speed. The YZR-M1 style central fairing duct also functions to direct airflow to the radiator, contributing to engine cooling performance.
INFORMATION RICH INSTRUMENT PANEL
A trick multi-function instrument panel includes an analogue tachometer and digital speedometer – and to underline its strong R-series heritage the R3's instruments feature a shift timing indicator lamp similar to the design used on the YZF-R1. There's also a gear position indicator, fuel gauge, water temperature gauge as well as fuel economy information, clock, trip-meters and more. All of course wrapped into an impressive liquid-crystal-type display.
LED LIGHTING
The iconic R-Series M-shaped intake duct and twin-eye front design of the YZF-R7 houses an adaptive bi-functional LED headlight. The R7 is also equipped with a LED taillight and front and rear turn signals. Light and compact, the LED lighting complements the next-generation style of the bike and reinforces the premium specification of the supersport class. Not only do the LEDs offer long life with minimal power draw, they provide brilliant illumination for confidence and visibility day or night.
6-AXIS IMU
The 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) consists of a gyro sensor (angular velocity sensor) that constantly measures machine pitch, roll and yaw, and a G-sensor (accelerometer) that measures acceleration in the forward-backward, up-down and right-left directions. This technology makes possible the class-leading array of rider aids includes lean sensitive Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS) as well as a front wheel lift control system (LIF) and Brake Control system (BC).
ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR
The Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) is activated by a high-tech twist grip assembly that gives a natural feeling for precise control. Featuring a spring, slider and gear that give a smooth and progressive feel, the lightweight ride-by-wire APSG (Accelerator Position Sensor Grip) twist grip gives instant throttle response.
